Dimension 2:
3. Mood is a state of mind of a person at a specific time. Mood is a state of mind of a person which is not much intense like emotions.
On the other hand, emotions are conscious mental reactions which are complex, intense and are directed toward in response to a person or an object. Emotions are expressed by psycological and physiological changes such as anger, happiness, sadness etc.
Moods are different from emotions.
•The primary difference between a mood and an emotion is seen in their expressions. A mood may not be expressed but emotions are expressed. For example- if a person has an emotion of anger he/she will express it to someone. But if a person has a sad mood he/she may not be able to express it.
• Moods last for a longer time duration but emotions last for a shorter time.
• Moods are not much intense but emotions are intense.
• Moods are not created inside a person because of someone or some object but emotions are created inside a person because of someone or an object. For example- a person can have an emotion of happiness on meeting an old friend but this will not create a change in mood of the person.
• Moods are more stable than emotions. Emotions are temporary i.e. they come and go quickly.
Thus, the above mentioned are the differences between moods and emotions.
