ANSWER :-
* Growth means increasing the size of the body and organs.
* Development means developing different skills, and strength and capacity.
* According to the age and growth and development of patient, the way providing nursing care differs. Cannot take care of an infant and an adult in the same way, because the infant has not completed growth and developement.
1) Communication - children and elderly are not able to communicate effectively and express their problems as a normal adult. We need to rely and collect information from parents and care givers.
2) Children are not completed their growth and development, so each age group need special physical set up and environment according to their age. Example-Neonates (below 30 days)are not developed their immunity and at risk for infection , so neonatal care units with more sterility and no visitors are maintained to prevent infection. Elderly patients needs to be assisted in ambulation due to poor vision and loss or reduction of sensory functions.
3) Risk of accidents and falls are increased among young and older patients - So the environment should be with precautions like railed beds, non-slippery floors and adequate lighting.
4) Physical development like development of muscles and blood vessels are not completed in babies, so the nurse needs to be skilled in administering intravenous and intramuscular injections.
