Regulations for child care

Regulations to provide care for the children help the people to follow standards in the child care. This guide the people to ensure the provision of appropriate care and delivery of services to the children.

1. Child care licensing and regulations for care taker/day cares

This regulation is intended to ensure the quality of the day care homes in order to promote the wellbeing of the children.

As per this regulation every day care should follow certain standards. This includes

> staff and child ratio and number of children allowed in a group

> Safety of children, it covers the safety of physical structure like building, play materials, location of fire exit doors, cleanliness and potential dangers.

> Promotion of health includes immunization, hand hygiene, diapering and other measures to prevent the spread of diseases.

> High quality and nutritious food. Monitoring of height and weight of the children, ensure the nutritious food etc.

2.Regulations of child care and kinder-garden

Most services under this regulation are to make sure the children are protected from harm and have the best learning experience.

There are two ways by which regulations are done

* Services regulated under the national quality framework; This includes, Long day care services, family day care services, kinder-garden and outside school hours care services.

* Services regulated under state law; there are number of services regulated under this includes Victorian children's Services act 1996. these services are usually occasional care services, mobile services, budget- based services not funded for child care benefit or school holiday care programs.

4. Child nutrition program/ school meal programs

These regulations are aimed to provide the healthy meal to the children who are at kinder-garden or schools. This meal programs includes giving milk, whole grains, pulses in the meal, supplements of vitamins and minerals in the school or kinder-garden. This ensure the child is getting nutritious food in the breakfast or in the lunch.
