What was the traditional approach to combating deforestation and what strategies are more likely to be effective?
Forest around the word has been home to our ancestors around the world. These forests have outlived many civilizations and through our history. They have been overseen by our ancestors through sustainable farming techniques where people used to grow their own food while leaving the forest undamaged. This thrived the forest and people had a pure atmosphere with enriched flora and fauna for them to live in.
Various organisations have continued to protect these forest land by movements like:
Sustainable farming
Here farmers had grown their crops and cut down trees while still planting new ones periodically. This led them to leave zero carbon footprints behind over generations. People belonging to these tribes of forests still actively protest against big time organisations that cut down trees for commercial purposes at a very large scale.
Many tribes of Amazon namely Munduruku people have made it their life motives to protest against the construction of bid dams that would disturb the forests and species around the area.
Awareness programme
Many mediums like media, marketing, entertainment network, newspaper, pamphlets, NGOs etc are used to create awareness amongst rural communities to start sustainable farming and to promote afforestation among them.
Traditional parctices of sustainable farming has in reality has been most affective to tackle deforestation. These are to be made more popular among all age groups of people. This includes of boycotting goods from organisation that use corruption and auuse deforestation using underhanded methods.
