Government regulation: A law passed by a particular government
to supervise, guide, regulate and mend the behaviour of people,
firms or groups. It is generally done to achieve social
efficiency.
There are several types and examples of government regulations in
place. Some of which are
1) Overtime regulations: When government directs the businesses to
pay higher money wages to its employees if they are making them
work overtime.Most of developed countries have elongated rules and
laws for protection of employees.
Example: Fair Labor standards Acts (FLSA) in United states
not only does sets overtime regulations, but advocates for minimum
wages.
2) Consumer Protection: It is one of the key areas where almost
every government has invested in. Various laws and regulations are
made for restricting exploitation of consumers.
Example: Competition and consumer Act 2010 Australia seeks
to protect consumers from unfair business practices relating to
misleading and deceptive engagements, safety and reliability of the
products, conditions of consumer transactions, warranties
etc.
