steps necessary to implement a successful ERP
system
- Determine Your Scope as to which data you require in the new
ERP system. It is not possible to have all the data of previous
system in the new system. Determine what you actually require and
not require from the system and define the scope accrdingly
- Build a team consisting of technical member who shall design
the ERP and the final users of each department to give the inputs
of their requirement. Technical members should be able to
understand the requirements of the final users and users should
also have knowldge of the technicalities.
- Ensure One New System of Accurate and Clean Data
- Test the real business data in the model system for any
irregularities before going live with the pre determined
results
- In case of failure of the new ERP, have backup so that normal
busines transactions do not get distrubed.
Impementation of AIS is dominately concerned with the accounting
department where as ERP includes in it all the departments viz
production, sales, marketing, finance as well as accounting. Thus
when AIS is implement focus over the accounting accuracy only is
given with the inputs from accounting department with no regard to
requirement of the other departments. However in ERP inputs from
all the departments are taken,
