b). Hyphae can grow to form a stolon above ground.
The bodies of fungus are made of filaments called hyphae. Most of the fungal species grow as hyphae (thread-like cylindrical structures with a diameter of 2 to 10 um). These grow at their tips (apical growth), the growth of new hyphae from the tips of existing hyphae is known as branching, and it connects two mycelium. These features of fungi lead to the development of mycelium, which is the interconnected network of hyphae (essential for the nutrient uptake from the host).
