In light of what I now know about hospitalizations, these are the changes I suggest to ensure patients receive the best care:

Early diagnosis by the physicians reduce the length of the hospital stay.

Prescribing generic medicines would reduce the costs.

Nurses should pay close attention to the orders given by the physician for the patient.

Miscommunication and wrong interpretation to these orders will affect the patient. So,clarifying the doubts before giving or doing anything to the patient is important.

Putting their ego aside and working as a team would benefit the patient.

In light of what I now know about long term stays, these are the changes I suggest to ensure patients receive the best care:

Any patient who has been in the hospital for long time (in cases like chronic illnesses), the care and attention to the patient would be reduced. This thus complicates the existing illness or bring new complications. So, the care and attention by the health care workers should not be changed.

Long stay will affect the patient mentally and emotionally. So, by reassuring them in free time would be a great support and care to the patient.

In light of what I now know about short term stays, these are the changes I suggest to ensure patients receive the best care:

The health care team including physicians, nurses, technicians should be efficient enough to provide basic acute care. This is important because any lack or under performance would lead the patient to long term care.

In light of what I now know about nursing homes, these are the changes I suggest to ensure patients receive the best care:

Most Nursing homes are filled with elderly and disabled people.Nurses will take care of them and these nurses should be skilled and most importantly should have empathy.More than treatment, these patients wants to listen and understand them. So,trying to make them happy and encourage them to live their last days to the fullest.
