Qualitative methods are typically more flexible - that is , they allow greater spontaneity and adaptation of the interaction between the researcher and the study participant. For example, qualitative methods ask mostly " open ended " questions that are not necessarily worded in exactly the same way with each participant
One - on - one interview ( individual interview ) type is the most flexible and widely used for applied research. An individual interview can be conducted over the phone, skype or in person.It involves having a one to one Interaction or discussion with the research subject inorder to gather relevant information that can serve as empirical data. It can be conducted with the use of an audio recorder, digital camera or camrecorder. Interview allow the researcher to gather the most relevant data , which gives him or her in-depth knowledge about the research subject. An interview may be structured, semistructured or unstructured , depending on the research purpose. This is purely a conversational method and invites oppertunities to get details in depth from the respondent. One of the advantages of this method provides a great opportunity to gather precise data about what people believe and what their motivations are .If the researcher is well experienced asking the right questions can help him/ her collect meaningful data.
