Expert Solution

Both option A and C) The cytokinesis that occurs during the normal cell cycle of somatic cells in animals involves the formation of a contractile ring composed of actin and myosin and ends with the production of two haploid daughter cells .Cell cycle has two phases :- Interphase and M or mitotic phase .Further the interphase is divided into G1 phase , S phase and G2 phase . In M phase ,it is consist of two processes:- karyokinesis where division of nucleus occur and other is cytokinesis where division of cytoplasm occur .In animal cell, cell division occurs when a band of cytoskeletal fibres called the contractile rings contract inwards and pinches the cell into a process called contractile cytokinesis .The indentation produced as the ring contracts inward is called the clevage furrow .It moves centripetally and joins in the center dividing the cell plasma into two.The constriction of the plasma membrane deepens further and finally joins and divides the animal cell into two haploid daughter cells .Animal cells can be pinched into two because they are relatively soft and squishy and donot have cell wall.

Plant cell on the other hand has a rigid cell wall and have high internal pressure .Because of this, plant cells divide into two by building a new structure down the middle of the cell .This structure is known as cell plate ,made up of plasma membrane and cell wall components delivered in vesicles and partitions the cell into two. Phragmoplast which is formed by golgi complex and grows centrifugally to form a cell plate.
