Several factors have resulted in the shift in utilization from inpatient hospitalization to ambulatory care services. What are the implications of this shift for hospitals, consumers, and the health care delivery system as a whole? Is the increase in outpatient care and corresponding decrease in inpatient care a positive for patients?

An ambualatory care providedon an out patient basis including dignosis, observation, consultation, treatment, intervention and rehablitation services. This care can include advanced medical technology and prcedure even when provided out side of hospitals.

*Cost: can be built in location that are significally less expensive to operate than hospitals.
*patient expectaion: provide easy access and shorter visit length.
* competition: caan compete wih other health care organizations by adding ambulatory services.
*physician and health care workers support: partnering physician and other health care workers performing procedures in ambulatory care facilities and create sourse of referals.
* chronic disease treatment: easily manage patients chronic diseases.
*population management: ambulatory care care services can deliver preventive care services in acost effective setting.
*advanced technology: opt facility to deliver co- ordinated treatment regimen.
Is positive for patients?
It increases the out patient care and dicreases the inpatient care. This will allow providers to more proactively maanage chronic condition, prevent serious illness and improve overall population health. This will affect postively for patients.
