Factors that influence The Nature of Attributions: What is your take on this concept? People attribute events and interpret them differently. Failure can be interpreted as a temporary setback, or low ability or even a self-fulfilling prophecy. Was there a time when you didn’t believe in yourself? What changed? Is success a matter of an acquired skill or is more biological, innate or predestined or lying dormant?
Nature of attributions is about classifying set of events due to external or internal factors. If a person makes his or her own actions responsible then it is internal attribution whereas if the person hold the environment or surrounding responsible then it is external attribution. For e.g.: if the tyre gets puncture while driving and a person thinks that he didn't checked the condition of tyre before or should have taken another road then it is internal attribution. And if roads or terrain or even govt is held responsible then it is external attribution.
There was a time in my school days, where I was mediocre student, didn't worked much hard and help things like portion, teachers etc responsible. As I grew I started realising that if I do not earn marks then my future would be in total loss. Hence whenever I used to get less marks I knew that this was thing which I didn't studied properly. Hence I think success is more of acquired skill or knowledge than any biological factors. It either pre destined more lying dormant. One has to work hard in order to achieve it.
