t1/2 is the time taken by a drug excrete 50% of its initial concentration.
The word initial concentration is very important here .
It is easy to understand this question with an example
just take a case where we have to Infuse a 100 mg of a drug into a patient and let the t1/2 of the drug be 15 hr .
so here we start the patient with 100 mg of the drug.
now in the body of the patient since t1/2 is 15 hours ,50% of this drug remains in the blood and the other 50 % is excreted from the body after end of 15 hrs
so at the end of 15 hours we get 50 mg of the drug in the body which is 50 % of what we need .
now ,the percentage of drug present in the body after next 15 hrs will be 50 % of its initial value so, here the initial value is 50mg so 50% of 50mg which is25mg( 25%) percentage.
so the final amount of drug after 30 hour will be 25 % in the body. meanwhile in the second 15 hours we give another dose of 100mg so that after this time 50 % of this 2nd dose remains the body.
and the 25 percentage of the first dose which will together make 75 percentage of the total
