Expert Solution

Examples of engineered products that must be circular in shape:

Manholes - Generally manholes are made circular in shape as they are meant for a man to get in it and come out easily. A circular shape opening has a minimum surface area for a given maximum length. But also not all the manholes are found to be circular in Shape. For Example - Manholes in Boilers are elliptical in shape.

Wheels of Automobiles – Wheels of the automobiles are made circular in shape because of the following reasons:

(1) Circular wheel requires less energy required to drive.

(2) They are suitable for all types of road surfaces like smooth, bumpy, mills, slope, curvy.

Wells are generally made circular in shape because a capillary action is needed to move the water upward in a circular tube. A square shaped or a triangular shaped well would not be supportive for water at all because water will be lost in the corners of the structure.
