In your (OWN WORDS) please answer the following question about Transplant Tourism.
Transplant tourism is the phenomenon in which people travel abroad to purchase organs. WHO defines " transplant tourism” to patients travelling across the borders to be transplanted elsewhere. Because of lot of confusion behind the termstravel for transplantation and transplant tourism, the Istanbul Declaration, distinguishes travel for transplantation from transplant tourism “travel for transplantation is the movement of organs, donors, recipients or transplant professionals across jurisdictional borders for transplantation purposes. Travel for transplantation becomes transplant tourism when it involves organ trafficking and/or transplant commercialism or if the organs, professionals and transplant centers, devoted to provide transplants to patients from outside a country undermine the country's ability to provide transplant services for its own population.”
THE PROS ARE: - it will increase the tourism in developing countries
- it will increase the income of local population
-it will nullify the misconception that developed countries has better treatment facility than developing countries
- it is a morally good, donating for betterment of others.
Th cons are:- -only th eaffordable people will be able to get the treatment
-the follow up treatment once return to home place will be in confusion
-most of the time the persons giving the organs are not benefited as they are poor people, they will be fooled by the mediators.
- most of the countries do not have insurance for such practise
- the cost for the injury caused will be less than the damage caused.
in my opinion transplant is promoted but the individual donating should be in direct contact with the receipient.
