A.Acute diverticulitis - 1.INtravenous Antibiotic ; 2.Nil per Oral to rest the bowel 3.Catheterisation to reduce colo vesicle fistulation

Surgical treatment- Indications for surgical intervention -1 generalised peritonitis 2. Failure medicinal management 3. To prevent complications


Risk factors - aging , obessity , smoking , sedentary life style , diet high in animal fat and low in fibres

Certain Medications like Ibuprofen , Opioids , NSAIDS

Complications-

1pain and Inflammation (diverticulitis)

2.Perforation leading to generalised peritonitis

3.Intestinal obstruction

4. Colonic haemorrhage

5.Fistula formation eg - colovesical fitula ; colovaginal fistula ; abscess

Teaching for Patient

1. Take high fibre diet and low animal fat diet

2.if she is a smoker she should stop smoking

3.She should adapt active life style exercise frequently

Diverticulosis are referred to as small bulging pouches which develops in our digestive tract

and Diverticulitis means when one of this pouch gets infected or inflammed that is calked diverticulitis
