Expert Solution

Compare and contrast the explanations these two children present regarding where a baby comes from.

The children’s concept is that the baby is comes because of drinking juice. But in their cocept one point is right. That is the baby comes from the egg and the egg transforms and develops into the baby. Here the boy said that the baby grows inside mommy and daddy’s tummy. But the girl correctly said it is inside the mommy’s tummy.

What may be the reasons for why these two children have different explanations for where babies come from?
The children have two different beliefs regarding fertilization. But the boy’s concept is good. He tought about the egg transformation. For the children they don’t know nothing about fertilization and pregnancy. So the children have different concepts regarding this.

In what ways does the boy explain the biology of fertilization in a way that makes sense to his experiences?

In normal fertilization process the semen enters into the female reproductive tract and then one sperm reaches the female egg called ovum. Then it fuses and fertilization occurs.

Here the boy explained the juice touches the egg and then the egg is transformed into the baby. His way of thinking is sensible. Because he said that baby is prduced from the female egg.

Which child would you say has the "better" understanding of reproduction, and why?

The boy has better understanding of reproduction. Because reproduction means it is the fusion of male and female gamates. After the fusion of sperm and ovum it becomes zygote. Then it becames embryo and fetus. Here the boy also explained regarding the egg transformation.
