Scenario #2 post simulation question :
-What are the routes of epinephrine administration?
Epinephrine product improved in the USA of anaphylaxis, recommends IM( intramuscular injection) into the anterior lateral aspect of the thigh but also epinephine, when given intramuscularly or subcutaneously, has a rapid onset of action
-What are the concentration of epinephrine for the treatment of anaphylaxis?
Epinephrine 1:0000 dilution(1mg in 1mL),0.2 to 0.5mg(0.01mg/kg in children; maximum dose 0.3 mg), IM injection for 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the severity of anaphylaxis that should needs to control the symptoms
Mechanism of action:
Adrenaline :-stops your blood pressure from falling to Low by stimulating these receptors, causing the blood vessels to narrow. This also redirects blood to vital organs. Other life threatening symptoms that the adrenaline reverses include throat tightness, hives ,itching and skin swelling
Epinephrine :-Through its action on Alpha -1 receptors, epinephrine induces increased vascular smooth muscle contraction, pupillary dilator muscle contraction, and intestinal Sphincter muscle contraction. Other significant effects include increased heart rate, myocardial contractility, and running released via Beta -1 receptors
