Penders health promotion model is one of the widely used models to plan for and change unhealthy behaviours and promote health.Different studies have highlighted the efficiency of this model to control unhealthy behaviors. The HPM is based on social coginitive theory according to which coginitive-perceptual factors influence engagement in health-promoting behavior.Modifying factors are considered to interact with each other to influence coginitive perceptual processes.

The penders HPM consists of variables that comprise the main part of the interventions. These components provide a rich source of interventional content and strategies. The increasing rate of obesity and strong influence of lifestyle factors includind diet ,on the etiology of obesity have been frequently reported by the studies conducted in the western world, but the evidence is limited on developing countries.

The Parses Human Becomig Theory guides the practice of nurses to focus on quality of life as it is described and lived. The human becoming theory of nursing presents an alternative to both the conventional bio-medical approach as well as the psycho-social -spiritual approach of most other theories and models of nursing .Parses model rates quality of life from each persons own perspective as the goal of the practice of nursing.Rosemarie Rizzo first published the theory in 1982 as the Man-living-health theory ,and the name was changed to the Human becoming theory in 1992.

The Parses human becoming theory should develop certain things that can be accessible to new nurses. The theory does not utilizes the nursing process, and negates the idea that each patient engages in a unique lived experience and inapplicable to acute, emergent care. These things should be promoted with in the HPM.
