- it will help in patient centered care
-this helps in understanding patient intentions, their requirement and this kept in mind helps in better planning of treatment, like planning for a surgery, the patient may not be prepared mentally or financially, once we have understood this we can either postponed the surgery if not an emergency or convince them the importance of emergency surgery.

- this helps the family to involve consciously in the treatment, like next check up preparation, giving medicine in proper time.
