Coniferous means gymnosperms or naked seeded plants. Angiosperms means flowering plants. Fertilization occur when pollen meet egg. In conifers seeds are developed in female cone.. in flowering plants when pollen reaches ovary ovules are fertilized. The battle starts dropping and fruit begins to form around the developing seed.Gymnosperms take considerably a long time to reproduce, since it often takes over a year from the time pollination occurs until fertilization is complete. Once seeds are produced, some species may hold their seeds until very specific conditions are met. Both flowering plants and conifers propagate by forming seeds that grow into new plants

.Male cones bear pollen, which help the the ovules that are on top of the scales in the female cones. The fertilized ovule becomes the seed. As the cone ripens, the scales separate and the seeds are dropped off.
