1) Based on the assessment data, the major nursing diagnoses of
the patient with Cushing's syndrome include: Risk for injury
related to weakness. Risk for infection related to altered protein
metabolism and inflammatory response. Self-care deficit related to
weakness, fatigue, muscle wasting, and altered sleep
patterns.
2) 1. SSKI :- Potassium iodide is used to loosen and break up mucus
in the airways. This helps you cough up the mucus so you can
breathe more easily if you have long term lung problems (e.g.,
asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema). This medication is known as
an expectorant.
2. Propylthiouracil (PTU) is a medication used to treat
hyperthyroidism. This includes hyperthyroidism due to Grave's
disease and toxic multinodular goiter.
3. TAPAZOLE is indicated: In patients with Grave's disease with
hyperthyroidism or toxic multinodular goiter for whom surgery or
radioactive iodine therapy is not an appropriate treatment option.
To ameliorate symptoms of hyperthyroidism in preparation for
thyroidectomy or radioactive iodine therapy.
3) For patients taking the oral solution form of this
medicine:
This medicine is to be taken by mouth even if it comes in a dropper
bottle.
Do not use if solution turns brownish yellow.
Take potassium iodide in a full glass (8 ounces) of water or in
fruit juice, milk, or broth to improve the taste and lessen stomach
upset.
