"Green marketing" has not yet proved its value as a strong marketing strategy. In some cases, offering a "green" product or alternative has worked to increase sales and/or profits, but for many others, "green marketing" hasn't lived up to its hype. There are many "green" shampoo products on the market including entries from L'Oreal, Burt's Bee's, Aveeno, Suave and Dove. Now, Procter & Gamble (P&G) is thinking about taking its Herbal Essence and Pantene shampoo lines "green." After reading this week's article "Choosing the Right Green Marketing Strategy" provide an informed opinion about:
Can established competitors be beaten at their own game? (Should P&G invest in "green" shampoo products to compete in the "green" market?)
Why should P&G compete in the "green" shampoo category? Why shouldn't they compete? (Give an informed argument for either decision.)
Which green strategy makes the most sense for P&G? Which "green" consumer segment(s) would that strategy aim to serve?
Green marketing mainly targets audience who favours products of good quality , durability and performance with an affordable cost and not having any bad impact on using that product. This is important for marketers to utilize the resources effeciently and without any waste and to achieve organization objective.
Can established competitiors be beaten at their own game???
Now a days green marketing impact has increasingly growing the demand for the natural goods by the customers have been improved from past years , already establishes compitetors like loreal ,himalaya can sustain their competition cannot be easily beaten by the compitetitors.Though P& G is an established firm with many well know products can enter into this green marketing as it is well know brand so ther are many chance it can give a tough competition to other products in case the quality of the goods it produce is better than others and if it touches the nische essence and flavour which are economic friendly.
Why should P&G compete in the "green" shampoo category? Why shouldn't they compete?
In my opinion P & G should compete with green shampoo category
case1 : a person have no idea about p& G products earlier he was using some other X product , some how he wanted only to buy green shampoo so he has taken the green shammpoo from P& G and used it he was very satisfied with product and felt it as same type as of X so in his mind he would mark as a good brand and next time he would also try with other products P&G have so sales increases thereby profits may increase .So it is good to enter into a healthy competition
case 2: If the shampoo is very good than other brands some people shifts from their brand X to this so then also sales increase
case 3: If the shampoo price is quoted less compared to others the lower cadre people opt to buy this as a choice therby increasing the sales and profits.
