whats some consequences of sexual identity on
society?
Sexual identity can be explained the manner in which we think of himself or herself to whom one is romantically or sexually attracted. This can also be defined as the sexual orientation identity which is basically the identification or misidentification of the sexual orientation of a person or even not selecting any sexual orientation.
Both the sexual identity and sexual behaviors are closely connected to the sexual orientation but both are separate. Identity is mainly the conception of an individual about himself, while behavior is mainly related to actual sexual acts which are performed by the person.
If we look closely if the society begins to realize that sexual identity and sexual orientation prevails over a range, it can result in increased stereotyping in the society, tension among different groups and different types of contradictions which are related to sexual preferences which can modify with the range of sexual orientation.
If a person starts to violate this range, inadvertently conforms to the sexual dichotomy of either heterosexuality and homosexuality.
This will not be a good phenomenon for the society and the individuals within its construct. The better understanding of this sexual continuum will be quite helpful in easing out the difficulties of the while stigma which is related to a person’s sexuality.
