Explain how Imperialism in the Middle East took different forms. Then, choose one empire and fully explain the specific methods, course, and effects of that empire in the nation you chose.
Imperialism was an ideology adopted by the European nations which involved the exercise of rule over people and other states. The extension of power was done via economic and political access, incorporating the military force and power and control. Imperialism rose between the 17 and 19th centuries after the European holdings' decolonization (Bakker & J. I). Imperialism took three primary forms, which are the colonies, protectorates, and the spheres of influence. The settlements are whereby the powerful nation installs its government and retains control of the country and regions. The sphere of influence was exhibited when outside power claims privileges and rights over a specific territory; this would be the military, trading, and other investments.
Additionally, a protectorate meant that a country could run its administrative affairs while being controlled by an outside power. The Spanish empire was the largest in history, it had significant impacts on the nations it ruled, and there were increased revenues from the Indies. The Spanish Bourbon monarchs were also under the crown, papal powers of patronage enlarged the Indies, which boosted the religious, political, and social cohesion. The impacts were experienced in the North America, Caribbean Islands, and Central America regions that hosted the empire.
