You are a new computer network engineer at School of IT and Engineering at Melbourne Academy of Technology (MAT). Recently MAT suffered a major data loss where hundreds of student credit card details were stolen. forensic engineers identified that the culprit hacked the free Internet offered within the campus and eventually acquired the password of the system admin at the school.

a) Recommend appropriate wireless network security solutions to better protect data at MAT.

b) Discuss the ethical standards in relation to storing credit card information on the network sever

As given in above scenario of MAT, lot of credit card details are hacked across network. So there is a need to secure the wireless network to protect the data across network. Culprit hacked the network by stealing the admin password. So hacker can take control over the network and he can modify the network password etc..This is called as "Spoofing or hijacking" attacks. By this way he hacked the credit card information of students in MAT.

a) Appropriate solutions to secure wireless network :

• Firewalls to be installed : To secure the wireless network , make sure to have a good firewalls that rejects any malware present in installing software.
• Authentication methods : Authentication methods are to be applied when someone accessing the network or using the network. Therefore it avoids the access of unauthorized users
• Encryption of network data : Encryption methods are applied to the data of network. So if hacker want to hack the network ,he can't see the original information.
• Disable network broadcasting : Disable network broadcasting means turn off the visibility of network name to the public. By this , public users out of organization can't know the network.
• Strong and unique passwords : To protect the wireless network , strong and unique passwords are to be applied to lock the network access. So hacker can't steal the password of the network.

b) Ethical standards storing information on network server :

Ethical standards means following ethical rules in storing people's personal information on network server for this organization purpose. They should give assurance for the information to keep secure.

• They should secure the information stored on network server by applying encryption methods on that information.
• They should maintain integrity of information stored.
• When storing information, they should not read the information as per the privacy rights.
• They should not use the information for their personal use or business.
• They should maintain secrecy in storing information.
• They should provide privacy rights to each individual to secure the information from others.
• Make the network private if storing the information. By considering network as private there is a limit of users to access the network.
