Scenario You work for a company called Apteryx systems as a Junior Network engineer. The company are planning to expand its organisation to two new locations across Auckland and they want to connect all 3 sites together and this may require them to redesign their network at their current headquarters. The Companies planned 3 sites is intended to accommodate the following
1. Headquarters – Located on Queen St in the Auckland CBD
• The network consists of
i. A Primary server that acts as both the file storage and the DHCP Server, this is connected to a switch called Main-switch.
ii. 5 Desktop Clients that are connected to a switch labelled “EmploySwitch” these clients receive their addresses from the Server
iii. 5 Roaming laptops allocated to staff, that connect to the wireless network on the Wireless Router (Router1) which has an SSID of “Apteryx-HQ” and a password of “P@ssw0rd1”. The wireless devices get their IP Addresses from the server.
iv. 2 Smart devices that connect to the wireless network.
2. Primary Data Centre – Located in Otara, South Auckland •
The network consists of
i. 3 Servers that are connected to a switch these servers are labelled Data1, Data2 and Data3 these three servers have static IP addresses. All 3 are connected to the main switch using two cables on a gigabit connection.
ii. 2 Desktop machines that are used to access the servers through remote desktop. These 2 machines have static IP addresses and are called Access1 and Access2
iii. Internet access is available through a standard router.
3. Company Retreat – Located on Waiheke Island
• The network consists of
i. One desktop computer connected to a wireless router
ii. A 60inch smart TV that is connected to the network
Your job will be to plan the networks and make sure that they are implemented correctly.
Based on the scenario above perform the following tasks.
Q- Using a network designing tool or simulator, plan and design a suitable network to accommodate Apteryx’s requirements as specified in the scenario.
