Healthcare is a very broad sector with multiple professionals working in it. Here nurses are the major healthcare professionals with large numbers They usually tends to have a long working hours besides the timing based shift. The physical stress and mental stress are quite high in this profession .Apart from this lifestyle factors socioeconomic status, peers ,personal life, etc., determines a nurse drinks alcohol or not. As alcohol is been part of many in their life it is not restricted on the name of profession .A nurse who is capable of keeping the professionalism and drinks off duty, never using alcohol on the day of duty or being intoxicated on the day of duty can be considered .This is because unless they are unsteady, causing harm ,unpleasant to others ,unsafe work practice they cannot be sued under law nor they are against the code of ethics. This will be an exceptional if the nurse is an alcohol addict who will not be able to quit it. They themselves needs medical attention and therefore will not be able to provide a safe patient care and cannot be employed as a nurse.
