Ans1 Two Metaphors of change by Kurt Lewin are:
1. Calm water metaphor
2. White-water rapids metaphors
The “calm water” metaphor refers to the organization as a large ship crossing a calm sea while in the “white-water rapids” metaphor, the organization is considered as a small raft navigating a raging river with uninterrupted white-water rapids.
Calm water metaphor suggests that change is an occasional disruption in the normal flow events happen in the organization and can be planned and managed when it happens while in white-water rapids metaphor change is ongoing and managing change is a continuous process.
Calm water metaphor means changing to deal with occasional disruption while white water rapids metaphor implies a dynamic environment with constantly changing environment and high level of competition at market place.
In calm water metaphor view of organizational change, the organization is considered as a large ship crossing a calm sea. The ship’s captain and crew know exactly where they are going because they have done many times before this. In this change comes in the form of an occasion disruption otherwise it was calm and predictable journey of an organization as ship. While in white-water rapids metaphor organization is considered as a small raft navigating a raging river. In this form changes are continuous and managing them effectively is the goal of the raft.
Ans2 “Proper selection is a substitute of socialization”. I am Disagree with this statement
Even the most compatible employee of the organization needs to learn the peculiarities of any particular organization. There are bound to be issues at one time or another where the individual and an organization are not in agreement. It is important for a firm to know which human resource professional area to go to at the time is helpful. Socialization includes getting to know not only the organization but also the individuals as a person, the group and nature of tasks that take place within an organization. Socialization can work together with training in an organization. If employees are socialized into thinking that training is necessary part of an organization and training is a function which helps them to grow and change with the company in a better way.
