What is the bacteria test in the urinary anaylsis testing for, if my patient has atrial fibrillation and kidney diease does it relate to that?
A urine culture test is done to detect the presence of bacterial infections in the urine. This test can detect the type of bacteria that causes infection in an individual, presence of bacteria in the urine means that either there is the presence of infection in the kidneys, urethra or the urinary bladder.
The normal range is up to 10, 000 colonies of bacteria per millilitre and greater than 100,000 colonies indicate that there is a presence of bacterial infection also known as urinary tract infection.
Hence a patient with kidney disease requires urine analysis for bacteria as a normal urinary tract infection could lead to complications if left untreated
There is a correlation between atrial fibrillation and infection, as atrial fibrillation is majorly caused due to the presence of inflammation. Bacterial infections causes inflammation, hence its important to do a urine analysis to rule out the cause as bacterial infections lead to inflammation which increases the c reactive protein in the patients of atrial fibrillation. C reactive protein is a biomarker of inflammation
The most commonly known bacteria that cause infection are chlamydia. Hence it suggests that bacterial infections cause atrial fibrillation and hence it's important to do a urine analysis
