cultural assessment paper
Culture is one of the most foundational aspects of a person's identity and personality. Every person has their own culture rooted in the community or society in which they grew up making up the person he is today. It molds their person views, aspects of reasoning and judgment, and the general logical thinking of an individual. The entire well being of a person depends greatly on his or her cultural beliefs.
In the society we live in, Culture is one of the most influential factors causing diversity among people making them unique and different. Most of the time different cultural practices go against other cultural beliefs. So when services are made to other societies, their person culture must be kept in mind to attract the target people and make them comfortable with the presence of foreigners.
When it comes to nursing, cultural sensitivity becomes a major factor in the respective field. As people significantly depend on their own cultural beliefs for decision making and opinion, their acceptance of certain treatment is often affected. Some refuse certain types of services and treatment as they view it as a contrast to their basic understanding of their culture. For a nurse practitioner, this is indeed complicated. Thus it is also important to consider for a fact and know the personal assessment and view of the personnel for clarity and understanding process.
Personally, as a nurse, culture is indeed a significant element to the personality of the patient. I indeed respect the concept and the person who wishes to stick to each individual has their own right for their personal identity including cultural aspect however, it only applies to the extent that the belief or cultural norm does not harm anybody
An example can be this child abuser and women battling is highly unacceptable to be one's way of moral philosophy or within any cultural standards. When culture crosses limits and harms other people around them, thats where we draw a line and take a stand. Indeed, cultural preferences is the basic rights of an individual but its also stated in the legal structure that the cultural right must not be used to discriminate and harm other human beings becsue of their cultural differences.
