you are in the process of designing a new user interface(UI) for your website. Two of the major design concepts were used in the development. we are interested in determing whether or not there is a signifcant difference in the number of minutes that users spend on your website for the two different designs A random sample of 9 observations for each design is selected, and 9 test users are selected to test the designs. The following data show the results of the test(number represent minutes spent on the website).
user Design A Design B
1 34 33
2 32 32
3 32 32
4 28 31
5 31 34
6 31 33
7 28 29
8 26 24
9 29 33
A) In your department, there is an argument whether the data can be analyzed as two independent populations or as matched samples. Which one do you recommend? What would be the benefit in this case?
B) State the null and alternative hypotheses for the statistical test to determine if there is a difference in average minutes(mu) spent on the website.
C) An intern calculates the mean differences as -1.11 and the standard deviation of the difference as 2.0275875. You have n=9 observations. What is the value of your test statistic? Round to two decimals.
D)
a) This is a matched sample, as same users are selected to test both designs.
B) Let us denote the difference
d = score of design A - score of design B
