Question 2 b The policy of the facility is that the young people must be woken three times by knocking on their doors. Staff may not enter the rooms and the young people are not forced to get up. Consequently, there is little incentive for clients to get up. They tend to stay in bed all day then go out all night and get drunk or drug affected. Nicole feels that these young people lack discipline. They should be made to get up in the morning – even if it means going into their rooms and throwing water over them. That’s what her Dad used to do when she wouldn’t get up in the morning! Then they could be locked in the house at night to stop all the night time shenanigans! How else will they grow up to be functioning members of the community?

b) Do you think this situation is causing Nicole further stress? Why/why not?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The young people will grow up to be functional member of the community by;

1.Family Influence

Parents should teach theire children about consequences of drug and alcohol abuse.

Parents should give a freedom to their children to feel free to talk about their concerns.

Build a friendship amoung parents and children

Frequently communicate with children about the desirable behaviour he/she should develop, and what all are the situations they should say 'no' to others.

Educate children about how to deal with unhealthy friendships and requests.

2. Get a professional help to deal with addictions.

Parents should seek a professional help for the young people who already have the problem of substance abuse.

The substance abuse can treat effectively with medication and therapy.

3.Provide a good family atmosphere for teenage children to grow up.

Broken family,conflicts amoung parents are some of the reasons which leads the teenagers to substance abuse.A peaceful and strong family bond between family members definetely prevent adolescense from undesirable behaviours.

b.In this given senario to put a good change in youngsters life,their parents can do many things.But I think, throwing water over them to make them get up in the morning there by locking them in the rooms to avoid overnight mischeifs is not an effective method.Because teenagers are grown up,they have the right to lead their life theirown way.No one can impose strict rules over them.It can make the situation more worse than earlier as he/she can create angor towards their parents.So in this situation parents  should adopt other methods like educating and counselling about the ill effects of the current behaviour.
