Antitussives are drug which is used to supress cough,they are also known as cough suppressants. |
Protussives is a therapy which is intended to enhance the cough effectiveness to promote the clearence in airway secretions. |
The process of Antitussives is done by inhibiting the coordinating region of coughing which is located in the brain stem results in the disrupting the cough reflex arc. |
The process of Protussives involves in mechanical methid to loosen the mucusor few pharmological tools are used tht increases the cough clearance by improving the effectiveness of coughing . |
This medication used to treat symptoms caused by the common flu,allergies,hay fever or breathing illness(e.g.,sinusitis,bronchitis). | The common disorders which indicates the Protussives include pneumonia,bronchiectasis,postoperative atelectasis and cyctic fibrosis. |
Some of the Antitussives are Codeine,Butamirate,Dextromethorphan etc... | Guaifenesin,Acetylcysteine,Bromhexin etc... are some of expectorants which has the property of coughing out the mucus to clear the respiratory tract. |
DECONGESTANTS | ANTIHISTAMINES |
Decongnestants is a type of pharmaceutical drug which is used to relieve nasal cognestion and relaxes the upper respiratory tract. |
Antihistamines helps in relieving from running nose,sneezing,itchy or watery eyes and nose or throat itching. |
It is processed by causing blood vessels to constirct which helps in the dilation blood vessels in the nasal passages. |
It blocks the body's response to histamines and thus results in the reduction of allergical symptoms. |
These type of drugs provides temporary relief from congestion. |
It stops the allergic response but not effective in curing of cold completely |
Some of the Decongestants are Oxymetazoline,Phenylephrine,Pseudoephedrine etc... |
Some of the Antihistamines are Brompheniramine,Lorotadine,Cetirizine etc... |
