◆ interspecific competition :-
- it is the competition between
different species in a community
for food and habitat.
- example :- visiting flamingoes and resident
fishes compete for there common food , the zooplankton in
lake.
◆ direct competition :- when totally unrelated
species compete for the same resources .
◆ indirect competition :- when the feeding
efficiency of one species is reduced due to inhibitory presence of
other species when food and space are abundant.
◆ RESOURCES NEED NOT TO BE LIMITING FOR COMPETITION TO
OCCOUR.
◆ types of interspecific competition :-
- Chemical competition :-
chemical released by one species to kill or prevent from
predator.
- Encounter competition :- when
two different species of different territorial compete and may
affect one or both species.
- Overgrowth competition :-
when one species overgwoth in a specific environment due to it's
dominating naure or essential resources.
- Consumption competition
:-when one species inhibit other species by competition for
resources either sources are limiting or not.
- Preemptive competition :-
when individuals occupy space and prevent to use the resources by
other species and Overgrowth on that species. Then
competition occurs when an organism grows over
another
