Gender is a social concept where the male and female sexes are given different treatment in the society. While the males (men) enjoy more dominance and privileges, the females (women) are subjugated and have few rights and privileges in comparison to males. Feminism advocates to remove this differential treatment of women in the society. It promotes the notion of equity and equality for all resources and opportunities to women at par with men and without any discrimination. Feminism is promoting the equal rights and equity of women in all aspects of life. The different types of feminism are:

• Social feminism
• Cultural feminism
• Liberal feminism

White feminism and black feminism are also types of feminism that is based on the concept of race.
