The fumigation plume is one of the most environmentally detrimental plume types.

a. Draw a fumigation flume, along with its corresponding graph, i.e., elevation (m) vs temperature (°C).

b. Why does fumigation plume occur? Discuss on the basis of atmospheric temperature and stability

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution (a) :- In a fumigation method of dets controll that completely fills an area with gaseous pesticides of fumigants.

(b) Fumigation plume :-

They are created when atmospheric conditions are blable above tha plume and unsuitable below.

(i) This happens mosr often after the day lig let has warmed the atmospheric, which turns a night time fanning plume into fumigation for about a half an hour.

(ii) It occurs when an increased amount of volume in the air mixes with the smoke downward near the surface but this occurs more commonly with shorter smoke stacks because the layer of air near the surface becomes unstable as the ground warms.

One of the most common types of fertilizers used by farmers is a form of the highly soluble salt ammonium chloride (NH4Cl). At a certain farm, water runoff from fields carries dissolved ammonium chloride to a nearby pond, resulting in a dissolved concentration of NH4Cl in the pond of 5 mg/L. At the same time, ammonia gas (NH3) is being produced by cows that feed around the farmer’s pond, resulting in an atmospheric level of 500 ppb above the water...
