.1. Reflecting on your observations of and practice of nursing, to what degree do you see providing comfort as a nursing priority? Provide two examples.
2. Explain two similarities between the Tidal Model and Modeling and Role-Modeling theory.
1. Reflective practice is used in helping nurses to make comfortable work situation and as a result improved care . It is a paper requirement of your career progression in health care. Furthermore,if done properly,it results in great improvement in skills as a health care provider.
Most reflections are on things that go wrong these situations stays in one's head and forces us to begin to think about whether they could have done anything wrong. For example:
However, reflecting on things that went well can often be more rewarding and be just as useful. It can build confidence and help you to repeat it again on another occasion. For example:
STAGES OF REFLECTING
There are many models for reflection, however, it is important to understand why questions are being asked and how that helps in reflect. This an integration of many concepts but the broad process is similar in all models : what happened, why does this matter and what are the next steps.
2. Two similarities between the Tidal Model and Modelling and Role-Modelling theory:-
According to Barker,"theTidal Model is a philosophical approach to the discovery of mental health. It emphasizes helping people reclaim the personal story of mental distress, by recovering their voice.By using their own language, metaphors and personal stories people begin to express something of the meaning of their lives. This is the first step towards helping recover control over their lives".
The Modelling and Role-Modelling Theory was developed by Helen Erickson, Evelyn M. Tomlin and Mary Anne P. Swain . It was first published in 1983 in their book Modelling and Role-Modelling: A Theory and Paradigm for Nursing. The theory enables nurses to care for and nurture each patient with an awareness of an respect for the individual patients uniqueness. This exemplifies Theory based clinical practice that focuses on patient's needs.
The 2 similarities between The Tidal Modelling and Modelling and Role-Modelling Theory are:-
1. Attachment and loss:- the nurse must be attached to the patient and should feel his or her illness as the nurses illness.
2. Basic needs:- both the theory states that basic needs are the needs which is to be meet for the patient.
