describe the process of protein synthesis in a short paragraph

Solutions

Expert Solution

Protein synthesis occurs inside the cell which balances the loss of cellular proteins through the production of new proteins . Proteins perform a variety of functions . Protein synthesis is very simmilar in prokaryotes as well as eukaryotes.

Protein synthesis can be divided into two parts - transcription and translation.

During transcription ,the part of DNA which encodes the protein , known as a gene is converted into a template molecule called messenger RNA. This conversion is carried out by enzymes known as RNA Polymerases. In eukaryotes ,the mRNA is produced in a pre mature form that undergoes post transcriptional modifications to produce mature mRNA.

After the DNA is transcribed into a mRNA molecule during transcription ,the mRNAis translocated to produce a protein. During the translation process, mRNA along with the transfer RNA also known as tRNA and ribosomes work in a combined way to produce proteins.
