The moments were-

  1. When the doctor was telling Vivian about her treatment he was constantly using medical terms which are quiet confusing at time to the one with non medical field. He showed no empathy towards her and even went onward telling her about treatment even without knowing what she want and doesn't even let her take her decision. If I was a care provider in this case I would have surely asked for her opinion.
  2. When ongoing treatment Vivian has to face embarrassment because of open examination infront of few doctors in morning rounds. Again the confidentiality and privacy of the patient was compromised. A patients privacy is must and should be maintained

Nurse Susie Monahan showed true emotion and concerns in care of Vivian Bearing, she sets standards in patients advocacy. It is important as a nurse to come forward and make solid statement , even though the thoughts and suggestion are rejected. This teaches me as a nurse to be more assertive every day. As we work with patient and able to see their progress and growth we are better able to relate what they are going through and thus prevent doctors in taking any decision that may have negative impact on the patient.
