What is the main message of Buddha’s Four Noble Truths and how does the Eightfold Path differ from the Ten Commandments?
Buddhism has evolved from the time when siddhartha began to be referred to as the Buddha. In a deer park he delivered the celebrated "The Sermon at enares" in which are included two of the more central Buddha teachings i.e. the "Four Noble Truths" and the "Noble Eightfold Path".
The main message of four noble truhs is that old age, illness, and death are all forms of human suffering, and that there are many other other ways in which people suffer. The idea of Karma has also been a great messgae of buddhism, which states that in each existence a person's good or bad deeds would respectively impact positively or negatively on their store of merit.
The 10 Commandments is what one cannot follow or do. The Eightfold Path is about what one should do. The 10 Commandments are more like laws while the Eightfold Path is more like moral values, philosophy, healthy lifestyle. The Eightfold Path are rules to live by, It's not about satisfying a jealous God. They are self-evident rules for a happy life, for peace and harmony.
