d) U.S. and British surface action against German capital ships in the North and South Atlantic.
Answer is option C
Fleet actions such as the battles of Midway and the coral sea.
Two battles along with two other minor campaigns in the sea decided the fate of the mighty Japanese and turned the result in favour of the allied forces.
1. Battle of the Coral Sea - The allied forces stopped the advancing Japanese naval force in the Pacific ocean. Two major aircraft carriers, SHOKAKU and ZUIKAKU were damaged. This stopped the Japanese as they were planning to capture Port Moresby. It also weakened their strength during the Battle of Midway as few more US warships joined.
2. Battle of Midway - It was fought in Midway Still. Allied forces caused a devastating damage on the Japanese carriers.
Two months after Battle of Midway, the allied forces in the name of Operation Watchtower launched the attack in Guadalcanal and the Australians fought the Japanese in New Guinea Campaign for three years and brought them down.
