Please complete the following steps for your discussion post and response.
The Joint Commission is a non-profit organization that sets quality standards for a variety of health care entities. Receiving and maintaining Joint Commission accreditation is no easy task and one that many health care managers may perceive as unnecessary.
You are having lunch with a friend who also works in health care. Your friend asks you why your hospital chooses to continue accreditation with the Joint Commission when their accreditation requirements can be such a headache for managers and clinical staff. You respond with "well because the Joint Commission does great things for improving the overall quality of care we deliver to patients." Your friend responds with "ok, that's all good and well, but let's get real here. Can't you do those things without the pain of the reporting requirements, site visits, etc.?"
How would you respond to your friend's question?
Hypothetically, if your hospital chose to not seek reaccreditation with the Joint Commission, what could the impact be on patients, staff, and the general public perception?
Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.
My response for possibilities of running hospital smoothly without accreditation of joint Commission will be a complete denial to him. I will make my friend understand the importance of accreditation of joint Commission like following a certain, evaluated and expert made standards and meet the criteria made by joint Committee which can be a headache but also help in improving quality care to patients. It is always good to have idea of what standard to be follow to minimize the risk and maximize the quality care and that can only be possible if we know what standard and criteria are and that is made by joint Commission. With knowing standards is not enough, evaluation is also necessary so that it can be seen that every health care facility is trying to provide efficiency in work or not as in healthcare facility we have to deal with life of persons. With setting standards and evaluation, accreditation also help in national recognition and it also help people gain the trust in healthcare facilities that it meet the set of standards to provide quality care and provide information that workers as well work both are skilled.
If hospital chose to not seek reaccreditation with the Joint Commission, then the impact which happen are as follows.
