2. A parent’s profession can play a large role in a person’s choosing their own profession. It is estimated that people choose farming as a profession in a manner dependent on whether their parents were farmers. It was found that a person coming from a farming background had a 70% chance of becoming a farmer, whereas, someone not coming from farming background only had a 5% chance of becoming a farmer. Hint: see 2.8 #12. (a) Suppose that Farmer Bill has a great-grandchild named Jude. Determine the probability that Jude will be a farmer. (b) Farmer John has a neighbor Ted who is an accountant, who also goes on to have a great grandchild Campbell. Determine the probability that Campbell becomes a farmer.
