Why should humans care about protecting the environment, including endangered and threatened species? Explain at least two reasons that are biologically based.
Humans are the part of environment. Environment provides food oxygen and water to human. If environment starts degrading the life of humans also starts detorating.
We take fresh oxygen from environment . If environment gets polluted , then we not only take oxygen but also takes the pollutants . These further leads to the problem of human civilization.
Water is another most important part which we use to drink and use to cultivate our lands. The water we use to cultivate comes from river, lakes and rain. These are the parts of the environment. If river gets polluted , the water will be polluted and the fishes will die. The polluted water also detorate the production of agriculture leading to scarcity of food.
Every animals, plants are part of environment. These provide a unique balance to our earth. Birds pollinates trees . Trees provide oxygen , and fruits. If there are no birds then the pollination of trees will not happen and the number of tress will be decline. Birds also eays dead body, insects. If the number of birds decreses the amount of insects in agriculture will rise leads to failure of crop production.
Medicines come from varieties of trees. Due to over exploitation these trees will be extinct. If we donot preserve these trees, we will not able to make our medicines.
If the number of snow leopard decreses , the number of goats will increase. These goats are herbivore thats mean primary producers will be extinct. Snow leopard is endangered species.
There fore every organism in our environment has their unique role and togetherness it provides a unique balance to our life. So it is assumed that saving the environment, the endangered or threatened species means saving ourselves.
