What effect does the Endangered Species Act 1973 has on the environment and people?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans.

This act was like a lifeline for the species which were going to be lost soon. It protects the ecosystem which helps human and various animals to sustain. Earlier these species were saved by keeping them in zoo but Americans found it less and thus we decided to support them in their own habitat i.e. insitu conservation. Hence under this act, a species which is in danger can be kept under the category of endangered species and then important steps can be taken to conserve them and to increase their population. It also helped people to understand the conditions and they could also support the government and there was increased reporting of hunting of these endangered species. Hence their hunting was completely banned.

I hope the answer is clear to you, in case you have any query, please leave a comment, we will try our best to fix it. If you are satisfied with the answer, leave a thumbs up, your support is valuable. Thank You

Orangutans are an endangered species in their natural environment (the islands of Borneo and Sumatra), so a captive-breeding program has been established by using orangutans currently held in zoos around the world. Before this cytogenetic difference became known, some matings were carried out between animals from different islands, and 14 hybrid progeny are now being raised...

The Kentucky cave shrimp is an endangered species which lacks eyes and has a translucent body suggesting that the animal has long lived underground. An important question that ecologists would like to understand is how biotic as well as abiotic factors in its environment have contributed to restrict the historical range of this unique species from 5 localities in the state to now just the groundwater basins in the Mammoth Cave National Park region.
