Should there be any restrictions on choices of parents about babies with Assisted Reproduction (AR)? What’s different about Assisted Reproduction that would give governments the right to impose such restrictions? For example, the law does not set criteria on who can have a baby ”naturally”, for example, those who use tobacco and alcohol during pregnancy can’t be prevented from doing so nor is prenatal care mandated. Given such low standards for those reproducing naturally, why do you think there may be concerns to impose higher standards and more restrictions on AR and do you believe that such restrictions are appropriate? Explain and justify your position using Principles, Theories, and Reasons from the field of Bio and Medical ethics that may be relevant to supporting your decision. [the selections from On Moral Medicine and the article by Onora O'Neill, both linked in this Module, may help in answering this question] Please respond in at least 3 paragraphs,

There should be some restrictions on the choices of parents about babies with Assisted reproduction bacause naturally any fit individual can have baby but the responsibilities of parents are important in determining how much the child is fit for the society. Natually no one can stop anyone from having babies. But if a parent is unable to carry the child responsibility bacause of money , any addiction of drug or alcohol or is financially weaker ,and have any FIR on him /her then assisted reproduction is not for them because according to the criteria they can't be able to raise children. These rules are there to prevent the formation of unhealthy minds because of wrong upbringing. Assisted reproduction is the way to produce babies through the use of technology . In this the government try to give a future child a healthy lifestyle and well being. Those who use drugs and alcohol can have baby naturally but not through assisted reproduction because these restrictions are appropriate for the society and country . Government try to give different kind of help and opportunities to remove this imbalance but throuugh this technology they take care of the right choices and decisions taken for the well being of child . They don't have the right to stop any individuals to reproduce naturally but they have this right when parents reproduce through AR .

And i think these restrictions are appropriate because what will happen to the child if the parents are unstable in terms of financial security ,and are addicted to inappropriate use of alcohol and drug and have court cases and also if the family is not ready to accept the child in any case . For the well being of child it is important to choose right parents for them . If any of the above case is there the parents were not assisted with this technology. Doctors were adivced to do a detailed analysis on the parents who are willing to have baby.
