Dear Student,
Please find below answer to your question
Abstract
Police officers have several roles to perform as per the enforcement of Law
Duties of a Police Officer can be described as below :
A) What does reasonable mean to you in term of law enforcement ?
The amount of force necessary to protect oneself or one's property. Reasonable force is a term associated with defending one's person or property from a violent attack, theft, or other type of unlawful aggression. Reasonable force is also known as legal force.
B) Which is important order to Police Officer to make arraest ?
In making an arrest the police officer or other person making the same shall actually touch or confine the body of the person to be arrested, unless there be a submission to the custody by word or action.
Arrest in Legal term means “a seizure or forcible restraint; an exercise of the power to deprive a person of his or her liberty; the taking or keeping of a person in custody by legal authority, especially, in response to a criminal charge.”
In criminal law, arrest is a important tool for bringing an accused before the court and to prevent him from absconding. Thus, after arrest, a person’s liberty is under the control of arrester.
The mere purpose of arrest is to bring a arrestee before a court and to secure the administration of the law. An arrest also serve the function of notifying society that an individual has been committed a crime and to deter him from committed any other crime in future.
Arrest can be made in both criminal and civil both but in civil matters the arrest is the drastic measure which is not looked upon in favour by the court.
C) These strategies emphasize respect, neutrality, and transparency in the exercise of authority, while providing opportunities for civilians to explain their side of events.
The procedural justice model of policing, which emphasizes transparency, explaining policing actions, and responding to community concerns, has been identified as a strategy for decreasing the number of interactions in which civilians experience disrespectful treatment or the unjustified use of force.
Procedural justice training in the Chicago Police Department reduced complaints against police and the use of force against civilians. By showing that training reduced complaints and the use of force.
Some strategies used in procedural justice training include such as emphasize more on respect, neutrality, and transparency in the exercise of authority, while providing opportunities for civilians to explain their side of events.
Preventative Measures
There are some primary causes of crime which leads police to arrest the criminal by using force, So we need to be more vigilant the main causes include a lack of education, living in poverty, and being raised in a single parent home.
One key shortcoming of the police force is that it reacts to crime more often than it actively prevents crime.
Communities that feel underserved by the police have thus had to come up with alternative methods in order to keep safe without police help; however, many of these methods seem to exacerbate the dichotomy between criminal and victim.
