Deductive arguments are the ones which brings in critical thinking . Here conclusions are made based on the situation or premises, meaning a specific conclusion made from the given statements are sound or true if the statements or premises are true.On the other hand they are unsound if the conclusion made is not true because the statements are all not valid.
Here, let's take in the example of a sound argument.
A old patient is being admitted to the hospital with complaints of swelling,pain,stiffness.She was provisionally diagnosed with arthiritis. And during the course of admittion the patients showed irritability, sleeplessness and loss of apettite.The doctor prescribes NSAIDs,sedatives for improving the condition.
Now, the premises are
When administered drugs show side effects
NSAIDs and sedatives are class of drugs
Therefore, a conclusion is made that NSAIDs and sedtives with show side effect.
This is a sound argument.
