Josiah, a 22-month-old boy, lives with his mother and grandmother. He is at an early childhood center during the weekdays, and due to his mother's work schedule does not get home until after 6 p.m. most days. His mother and grandmother allow him to walk around the house with apple juice in a sippy cup while they are preparing dinner. He also "demands" snacks such as crackers, slices of cheese, and cookies. When they attempt to put Josiah in his booster chair at the table, he fights with them and yells, "NO chair!" Mother and grandmother often eat quickly in front of the television while feeding Josiah from their plates while he also watches TV. Josiah's mother and grandmother are frustrated and are concerned that he is not eating enough for dinner. The early childhood staff also state that they are having a difficult time with him sitting down at lunch time.

1 ) Josiah is a toddler ( 22 month old) .Toddlers are very active & playful. Josiah eating loads of snacks in between meals .so baby is not eating food properly in meal time .During meal time baby fight with mother and grandmother. They are eating quickly & watching TV . Adequate care of baby while watching television is not possible.
2 ) All essential nutrients are required for normal growth and development of the baby.
* Be creative with meal time : eg : Garnish the baby food
* Reduce the rush
* Offer smaller portions of the food.
* Limit snacks between meals.
* Reward good behavior.
3 ) Baby is eating more snacks in between meals. Snacks like crackers, cookies could not give adequate nutrition to the baby. Excessive snacks intake may leads to obesity & malnutrition. Balanced diet is required for toddlers. Protien, Carbohydrates, Fat & vitamins should be included in diet plan.
4 ) Unlimited access to apple juice in the sippy cup leads to tooth decay. Limit juice 1/2 - 3/4 cup per day. Offer water anytime.
5 ) * Sneak nutrients into toddlers favourite foods.
* offer healthy food choices. Toddler likes to choose the food items.
* Keep offering new foods . Toddler will take time to accept new food.
* Be with the client while eating.
* Avoid watching Television while giving food to Josiah.
* Reduce the rush.
6 ) Do not encourage the Josiah to eat all the food on their plate. Instead parents should let children learn to eat their own way.
